Sir; Your despatches No. 64, of October 28, No. 65, of October 29, No. 66, of November 29, No, 67, of November 29, and your private note of the same date, have been received, and your proceedings as related therein are approved.

Your No. 65 is accompanied by a copy of a convention concluded on the 22d of October last between the treaty powers and the Japanese government. So soon as the original of this instrument shall have been received it will be submitted to the Senate for its consideration with a view to its ratification.
