Letter
Unknown to Ulysses S. Grant, November 13, 1862
November 13, 1862.
November 13, 1862. General GRANT:
I recalled Sullivan while you were here to-day. Have since learned that Sullivan went on to Holly Springs at Leeâs request without orders. His orders were to go to Lamar, and in no event beyond Coldwater. Lee and Sullivan have both been recalled by courier from Holly Springs. Colonel Sanders, at Davisâ Mill, reports five reports of cannon in the southwest at 3.30 p. m., apparently heavy caliber.
C. 8S. HAMILTON, Brigadier-General.
