HEADQUARTERS DEPARTMENT OF THE PACIFIC,

Lieut. Col. GEORGE A. H. BLAKE, First Dragoons, U. S. Army, Comdg. Fort Churchill, Nev. Ter.: SIR: The general commanding the department directs me to say that if in your judgment the company of the Sixth Regiment of Infantry which recently arrived at Fort Churchill is no longer required for the protection of that post you will order it to take post at Benicia Barracks.
