General PRICE:

The major-general commanding directs that you at once send heavy details to repair the bridge at Pocahontas over the Hatchie. They will work night and day until completed. The lumber is in the town and quartermaster will furnish all necessary material.

I. The State of Mississippi and that part of Louisiana east of the

Mississippi River is constituted a separate military department, the

command of which is assigned to Maj. Gen. John C. Pemberton.
