Lord Lyons to Lieutenant Governor Gordon.
Washington, January 5, 1864.
Sir: With reference to my despatch of yesterday I have the honor to transmit to your excellency a copy of the answer which the Secretary of State of the United States has made to the note in which I informed him that your excel lency had issued a warrant for the arrest of the parties implicated in the affair of the Chesapeake, whose extradition had been demanded by the government of the United States
