No. 176. Mr. Fish to Sir Edward Thornton.

Sir: I have the honor to state that this Department is informed by a letter of 29th instant, from the Acting Secretary of the Navy, that instructions have been sent to Commander Byron Wilson, commanding the United States steamer Yantic, to co-operate with Sir II. B. E. Frere, the agent of Her Britannic Majesty’s government, in any proper way to secure the success of his mission to Muscat or Zanzibar.
