Sir: I have to acknowledge the receipt of your dispatch No. 115, of the 26th ultimo, and to inform you in reply that this Department is pleased to learn from your report of the opening of the International Fishery Exhibition that the display made by the American department was so creditable to this country. In this connection I desire to commend the happy spirit of your speech on the occasion of the opening of the exhibition as well calculated to strengthen the friendly relations already existing between the two countries.
