SPECIAL ORDERS, ) HDQRS. DEPARTMENT OF THE PACIFIC,
December 24, 1861.
No. 240. San Francisco, Cal., December 24, 1861. 2, Col. C. Sims, Second Cavalry California Volunteers, will designate three companies of his regiment for duty in the District of Southern
California. These troops will be in readiness to embark for Los Angeles on the 28th instant under the command of Lieut. Col. George S. Evans, Second Cavalry.
4. In compliance with instructions from the Adjutant-General’s Office, Maj. William Austine, Third Artillery, is relieved from duty in this departmert and will proceed to Washington City.
