HEADQUARTERS DISTRICT OF OREGON,

COMMANDING OFFICER AT FORT COLVILLE, WASH. TER.:

Sir: I am directed by the colonel commanding the district to notify you to hold yourself in readiness to be relieved with your command from the post of Fort Colville by two companies of First Infantry Washington Territory Volunteers, under Major Rumrill, of that regiment, who will arrive at your post about the Ist proximo. It is the intention of the colonel to send you with the two companies under your command to Fort Humboldt, Cal., of which you will be fully advised in due season.
