HEADQUARTERS FOURTEENTH ARMY OORPS,

Col. JOHN KENNETT, Commanding Cavalry, Gallatin:

Dispatch received. Had information some time before of the aftair at Gallatin. It is to be regretted that our cavalry has proved too slow for Morgan. It is hoped that you will execute your orders promptly. Colonel Zahm will join his division.
