Mr. Seward to Mr. Lidgerwood.

Sir: I have received your despatch of the 3d ultimo, which is not numbered. (No. 7.)

With reference to the special salute to the Brazilian flag in the harbor of Bahia, referred to therein, I have to inform you that the Secretary of the Navy issued the proper instructions on the subject to Admiral Godon some months since, with which he will no doubt comply upon receipt of the same.
