William H. Seward to William L. Dayton, October 19, 1864

Mr. Seward to Mr. Dayton

No. 684.]

Sir: I have received your confidential despatch of the 7th of October. I learn, with much satisfaction, that one of the iron-clads at Bordeaux has been sold by Arman to Denmark, and also that the government of Peru is in negotiation for the purchase of the two corvettes remaining at Nantes.

Your proceedings in regard thereto are fully approved by this department.

I am, sir, your obedient servant,

WILLIAM H. SEWARD.

William L. Dayton, Esq., &c., &c., &c.
