Mr. Seward to Sir F. Bruce

Sir: I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your note of yesterday, announcing the liberal decision of the governments of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick in regard to fishing licenses granted by Canada to fishermen of the United States, and a similar decision of the Canadian government in regard to licenses issued by the governments of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.

In compliance with your request I shall communicate this information to the Committee of Ways and Means, and I shall also take pleasure in making it known to the public.
