My Lord: I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your note of the27th ultimo, asking information on behalf of her Majesty’s government in regard to the port of Brownsville, in Texas, being in possession of United States troops, and in reply to inform your lordship that I have applied to the Secretary of War for such information.
