Mr. Seward to Lord Lyons.
Department of State, Washington, May 4, 1863.
My Lord: I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your communication of the 29th ultimo, relative to the capture of the British steamship Dolphin by the United States ship Wachusett, and to inform you that the attention of the Secretary of the Navy has been invited to it.
The authenticated copy of the protest which accompanied your note is here with returned to you.
