Sir: Your dispatch No. 152 of April 30 last, has been received. It narrates the particulars of a disturbance by the Chinese at the American Presbyterian Mission, at Peking, and describes the measures taken by the Chinese authorities, at your earnest solicitation, to suppress it.

In reply I desire to extend my congratulations to you, and to express my gratification at the successful result of the measures adopted to quell the disturbance.
