Letter
Thomas H Nelson to Hamilton Fish, April 30, 1872
No. 311. Mr. Nelson to Mr. Fish.
Legation of the United States, Mexico, April 30, 1872. (Received May 8.)
No. 558]
Sir: In consequence of the region bordering on the Rio Grande being still chiefly in possession of the rebels, I have hitherto refrained from pressing the Mexican government upon the subject of the robberies of cattle and other depredations committed by parties of armed Mexicans on the Texan frontier. I have, however, submitted the inclosures in your Nos. 229 and 234, unofficially, to the minister of foreign affairs, and, upon the expected speedy re-occupation of that district, I will earnestly urge all proper measures of prevention and redress.
I am, &c.
THOMAS H. NELSON.
