Sir: With reference to my note of the 23d instant I have the honor to inform you that his excellency the governor general of Canada, in acknowledging the despatch which I addressed to him respecting the prisoner O’Malia, states that his case will be taken into consideration, together with the petition in his favor and your request in relation to it.
