Sir F. Bruce to Mr. Seward.
Washington, July 21, 1866.
Sir: With reference to my note of the 5th instant, and to previous correspondence, I have the honor to inform you that the government of Prince Edward’s Island have agreed to recognize in the waters within its jurisdiction the fishing licenses issued by the other British North American provinces.
Fishing licenses are now issued by the government of Prince Edward’s Island at the following places and by the under-mentioned persons:
Charlottetown, the colonial secretary; Cascumpeque, James Forsyth; Richmond bay, Benjamin Beansto; Georgetown, William B. Aitkin.
