HEADQUARTERS DEPARTMENT OF THE PACIFIC,
San Francisco, Cal., April 12, 1862.
Lieut. Col. JAMES N. OLNEY, Second Infantry California Volunteers, San Francisco, Cal.: SIR: The general commanding the department directs that you proceed with your command to Alcatraz Island, where you will remain until transportation can be furnished to Fort Humboldt. This will probably be on Wednesday or Thursday next.
