PROPOSED AMENDMENT OF ARTICLE II OF TREATY.
The following was moved in the Senate of the United States, on 12th June, 1846, as an addition to the Resolution advising the President to accept the proposal:
With the following proviso at the end of the second Article of the proposed Convention, to wit:
“Provided, That the right of navigating the Columbia River secured to the Hudson’s Bay Company, and to all British subjects trading with the same, he limited to the year A. D. 1863, when it shall cease and determine.”
