Sir: Referring to previous correspondence between the Department and your legation concerning the incursions of British Indians into Montana Territory, I now have the honor to transmit herewith a copy of a telegram of the 11th instant, from the commanding officer of the United States forces at Poplar River, reporting that serious trouble is apprehended from the Canadian Indians, who are intruding on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation, and to request you to communicate this information to the Dominion authorities in order that they may co-operate with the officers of this country in the removal of the intruders.
