Letter

John Adams to Henry Grand, May 27, 1783

27. May 1783.— 1

M r. Adams’s Books & Papers being at the Hague, it is impossible for him to give M r. Grand a List of the Bills drawn on M r. Laurens and him, which have been accepted by him, before he shall return to the Hague. 2

M r. Adams gave to Mess s. Fizeau Grand & C o. at Amsterdam compleat Lists of all the Bills he accepted & transmitted to D r. Franklin also in the time of it Copies of those Lists.

What remains to be paid M r. Adams knows not. He never knew to what Amount Bills were drawn— He has accepted none since he left the Hague, and very few, scarcely any for many Months before.

M r. Adams returns his respectful Comp lts. to M r. Grand.

It will be sufficient for M r Grand to transmit to M r. Morris, Copies of the Accounts of the House of Fizeau Grand & C o. —
