California Vols., Commanding Fort Yuma, Cal. : MAJOR: Inclosed please find an official copy of a letter from department headquarters, dated the 10th instant, in relation to Showalter and party.+ Be very careful that these men do not escape, and be sure and carry out the instructions in that letter in relation to persons passing from this way beyond Fort Yuma, or crossing the Colorado, and in relation to persons coming to California from the other direction. Keep me advised of all the steps you take in the premises.
