No. 177. } Memphis, August 13, 1862.

Colonel Grierson, Sixth Illinois Cavalry, will detail a force of 150 good men, well mounted, armed, and equipped, and provided with three days’ rations, for a scout. They will report at headquarters for instructions at 5 p. m. to-day.

Major Kerr, commanding Eleventh Illinois Cavalry, will prepare 150 men ready to embark on board one or more steamboats for a scout of three days, provided in all respects for such service.

The commanding officer of the party will call on the commanding general this evening for written instructions and information not proper to communicate to any other person than himself.
