Foreign Office, June 15, 1876.
Sir: With reference to my letter of the 31st ultimo, I have the honor to inform you that a letter has been received from the home department, transmitting a copy of a report from the solicitor of the treasury, stating that application was made at Judges Chambers to-day for the discharge of Winslow, when Her Majesty’s attorney-general attended, and stated the present condition of the negotiations between this country and the United States; when, after hearing counsel for the prisoner, the application was acceded to by the learned judge.
