Sir: I have to acknowledge the receipt of your dispatch of the 30th ultimo, No. 551, in regard to the protection extended by you to Mexican subjects residing in France, and in reply to state that your action as therein set forth is approved by the Department. You will continue to use your good offices in their behalf if no objection is entertained on the part of the French government.
