Col. J. H. CARLETON, U.S. Army:

SIR: I learn that probably Showalter’s party will go by way of the Mojave River and Mojave Crossings. Peoples, one of the party, intimated as much sub rosa to a friend here. I think they left the Monte yesterday. Atleast they have left here.
