No. 20. ‘ : Galveston, Tex., October 2, 1861. Galveston Island, Virginia Point, adjacent bay coast, and the peninsula of Bolivar shall constitute one command, and be styled the Military Distriet of Galveston, Department of Texas.

SIR: I have the honor to acknowledge, through this morning’s mail,

a copy of your letter of the 30th ultimo,* handed my private secretary

in Galveston.
