Her Majesty’s Treasury to Laird Brothers.
Treasury Chambers, February 8, 1864.
Gentlemen: In reply to your letter of 3d instant, I am commanded by the lords commissioners of her Majesty’s treasury to acquaint you that they are informed that an “information” in the case of the iron-clad vessels built by you, and now under seizure by her Majesty’s government, will be filed in a few days, and that it may be necessary to send a commission aboard for the purpose of collecting evidence.
