Ernesto Turenne to J. P. Root , Present, July 24, 1872

[Inclosure N.]

Important letter from the Hon. J. P. Root to Santiago medical students.

Saturday, August 10, 1872.

Honorable Sir: Grateful for the zeal and self-denial you have manifested, as well in the hospitals as in private toward our unfortunate countrymen; and desirous likewise of co-operating in the early extinction of the epidemic, we take the liberty of requesting you to be so good as to put us in possession of your professional observations with regard to the disease, accompanied with the well-devised and successful method of treatment which your knowledge has suggested to you.

We, mere beginners in the medical career, hope to second the efforts you have made for the extirpation of the disease, availing ourselves of the scientific information you may be so good as to provide us with, on which account the victims of the epidemic, as well as your attentive admirers and friends, will remain eternally obliged.

  • JACINTO O DEL RIO.
  • ERNESTO TURENNE.

The Hon. J. P. Root, Present.
