Washington, April 5, 1872. (Received April 9.)
Sir: I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 29th ultimo, relative to the facts which I was instructed by Lord Granville to submit to you, with regard to the slave-trade on the east coast of Africa, and I beg to offer you my best thanks for having acceded to the wishes of Her Majesty’s government in this matter. I have forwarded a copy of your note to Lord Granville, to whom I hope it will be satisfactory.
