Maj. G. A. H. BLAKE, First Dragoons, Commanding Fort Churchill, Nev. Ter.:

SIR: The colonel commanding the department desires you, if you deem it necessary, to keep a company of dragoons moving on the Overjand Mail Route, for a considerable distance in advance of your post, for the protection of life and property against Indian depredations.
