Cheng Tsao Ju to George D. Bayard, September 14, 1885
No. 129.
Mr. Cheng Tsao Ju to Mr. Bayard.
Chinese Legation, Washington, D. C., September 14, 1885. (Received September 14.)
Sir: I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your two notes dated respectively the 11th and 12th instants, and desire to express to you my sincere thanks for your courtesy in so promptly securing a military escort for the gentlemen sent by me to investigate the recent riot in Wyoming Territory.
In response to the inquiry in your first note, I would say that the members of the commission leave San Francisco, Cal., to-day, and that they expect to be joined at Ogden by the United States officers so kindly appointed by the War Department for that purpose.
Accept, sir, &c.,
CHENG TSAO JU.
