Mr. Davis to M. Sclopis.

Sir: I have received from my Government instructions, in order to avoid possible misapprehensions, to inform you that the United States will be present, by their Agent and Counsel, at the Hotel de Ville, in Geneva, on the 15th instant, pursuant to the order of adjournment made by the Tribunal on the 16th day of December last, and will then and there be prepared to present their argument, in accordance with the requirements of the Treaty of May 8, 1871, and to hold themselves subject to such further directions of the Tribunal as may be made, under the provisions of the Treaty, upon the issues raised by the various papers which have been presented under the Treaty hy the two Governments, now in the possession of the Tribunal.
