Sir: I have the honor to transmit herewith, for the information of the major-general commanding, copies of telegrams dated 4th instant, from Maj. J. C. Stafford, quartermaster, relative to supplies and movements of the army in command of Brigadier-General Mouton, &c.; also copy of my reply tosame, which I have taken the liberty to send, trusting it will meet the approval of the major-general commanding.

The train left two days ago, loaded with the stores to be stored at the
three depots established by me, which have been built and finished.
