Mr. Arbuthnot to Mr. Hammond.—(Received November 20.)

Sir: I am commanded by the lords commissioners of her Majesty’s treasury to transmit to you, for the information of Earl Russell, the enclosed copy of a letter from the commissioners of customs relating to a report that the United States war sloop Kearsarge had taken on board British subjects at Queenstown, and I am to state that my lords would be glad to be informed whether, in his lordship’s opinion, any further steps should be taken in the matter.
