Ames H. Carleton to Joseph R. West, November 25, 1861

Los Angeles, Cal.

Lieut. Col. JOSEPH R. WEST, First Infantry California Vols., Comdg. Fort Yuma, Cal. :

COLONEL: The following dispatch I have just received. It did not come sooner, as the wires were down.*

I am entirely at a loss to know what the cause is of this sudden change unless it be that General Wright is ordered Hast. Pray lose no time in getting here.

very respectfully,

AMES H. CARLETON,
Colonel First California Volunteers, Commanding.
